孩之宝向狮门影视公司(Lionsgate)出售部分娱乐壹(eOne)业务并组建娱乐部门
近日,孩之宝公司发布消息,已与狮门影视公司(Lionsgate, 以下简称“狮门”)达成最终协议,将以约5亿美元价格向其出售孩之宝旗下娱乐壹(eOne)公司部分影视与电视业务。交易支付方式由3.75亿美元现金(根据交易价格调整)和贷款组成。预计整项交易将于2023年年底完成。
此次出售业务主要包含片库中近6,500多部作品、非孩之宝IP的制作项目、娱乐壹加拿大影视运营业务及无脚本剧集。娱乐壹旗下《小猪佩奇》、《睡衣小英雄》等中国观众耳熟能详的剧集业务不在此次出售范围内。它们将与《小马宝莉》、《变形金刚》等孩之宝经典动画内容共同组成孩之宝娱乐板块的重要资产。
8月16日,孩之宝宣布组建孩之宝娱乐部门,专注于借助孩之宝旗下最具价值的品牌,为全年龄段的观众开发与制作跨平台优质内容。新部门集合了孩之宝在电影、电视、动画和数字媒体方面的专业优势。该举措旨在整合资源后对重点品牌增加投入,被视为孩之宝在执行其“品牌蓝图2.0”过程中所迈出的重要一步。
娱乐业务仍然是孩之宝的战略核心。除了《小猪佩奇》(Peppa Pig)、《变形金刚:地球火种》(Transformers: 地球火种)和《小马宝莉:讲述你的故事》(My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale)动画片外,孩之宝旗下还有三十多个娱乐内容项目正处于开发阶段。未来,孩之宝将持续开发与制作自有品牌的娱乐内容,推陈出新,为品牌创意注入全新活力。孩之宝“品牌蓝图”将全方位覆盖玩具、出版、游戏、授权消费品和落地娱乐体验各业务板块。

Hasbro to Sell part of eOne Business to Lionsgate and establish Hasbro Entertainment Division
Aug 18-Hasbro Inc. recently announced that we have reached a definitive agreement to sell the eOne film and TV business to Lionsgate for approximately $500 million,consisting of $375 million in cash ,subject to certain purchase price adjustments, and the assumption by Lionsgate of production financing loans. The deal is expected to close by the end of 2023.
The sale will mainly include a content library of nearly 6,500 titles, active productions non-Hasbro owned IPs, eOne’s Canadian film & TV operations and the eOne unscripted business. EOne’s productions with which the Chinese audience are familiar like “Peppa Pig”, “PJ Masks” are not included in this sale. They will continue to be the key assets for Hasbro’s entertainment business alongside with Hasbro’s classic productions like “My Little Pony” and “Transformers”.
On Aug 16, Hasbro announced establishment of Hasbro Entertainment, a division that will be dedicated to leveraging Hasbro’s most valuable brands to develop and produce premium content across platforms for audiences of all ages, which unifies Hasbro’s film, television, animation, and digital media expertise under one umbrella, reflects a significant step in the execution of Hasbro’s Blueprint 2.0 strategy, which is defined by increased investment in Hasbro’s priority brands.
Entertainment is core to Hasbro’s strategy. In addition to Hasbro’s animation efforts that include Peppa Pig, Transformers: EarthSpark, and My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale, the company will retain a focused team of creative development and business affairs experts to shepherd the 30+ Hasbro-based projects in development. Going forward, Hasbro will continue to develop and produce entertainment based on the rich vault of Hasbro-owned brands and also bring to life new original ideas designed to fuel all areas of Hasbro’s blueprint including toys, publishing, gaming, licensed consumer products, and location-based entertainment.
